Why Join Our Choir? Part 2

We have a wide range of members in our choir.

So we asked them how they would describe rehearsals and the community to others who are looking to join.

Their feedback was incredible.  So we thought we’d share it with you.

This is one of the most important things about our community choir.

We NEVER ask anyone to audition, that’s just not our vibe.

We don’t care if you’ve sung all over the world, or never sung before.

We don’t care if you’ve the best trained voice, or consider yourself to be tone deaf.

If you want to sing, and want to be accepted no matter your vocal ability, come and give us a try.

We sing a mix of songs every week. There is no specific “genre” that we focus on. Lots of our songs are suggested by members of the choir, and it allows them to take ownership of their repertoire. This also brings connection across the

Our musical director Grace comes from a varied musical background. She has been teaching choirs throughout her career, and also has an in depth knowledge about the anatomy and function of the voice.

As a singer, pianist, oboist and general nerd about music and the voice, she puts this knowledge to use every week to help us get the most out of our voices when rehearsing.

Fun and enjoyment are at the base of everything we do. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we laugh in every session. (Normally at Grace)

We take time to make sure there are spaces for conversation, and time to get to know each other beyond just singing in a choir together.

We foster a welcoming and open community that allows everyone to shine in their own way.

We are fully inclusive. We want to make sure that everyone who wants to attend has the access and support to do so. This includes lift sharing to performances and other events.

We have organised group trips to concerts, shows, and other excursions. This allows us to keep building our community beyond our rehearsals, and it’s great to see the friendships and bonds forming.

While as a choir we do hope to perform in and around our local community, and at events.

We would NEVER tell anyone they had to to perform.

We hope that with the support of the group that you would feel comfortable performing, but there is never a demand. Don’t want to sing, simply come along and support, instead. At choir concerts there are always other roles you can fill.

Come and join Wall of Sound and build your community through song.
