Everton In The Community - 31st May
On the 31st of May 2023, Wall of Sound - Community Choir had the wonderful opportunity to sing for Everton in the Community and their weekly dementia luncheons. The choir, consisting of mix of vocal parts and ages, sang a diverse range of songs from different musical genres that kept the audience entertained throughout their performance. The acoustics in the community center were wonderful, creating a full, rich sound that showed what Wall of Sound do best. Apart from the wonderful music, the choir's energy and performance was infectious, and it was brilliant to hear and see members of the audience joining in.
The turnout was impressive and it was heartwarming to see such a large and diverse group of people coming together to enjoy live music, and support the sufferers and carers of those with dementia.
Music has been shown to have a powerful impact on individuals affected by dementia. Because musical memories are stored in a different area of the brain than those memories impacted by dementia, listening to music can create a sense of comfort and familiarity. Whether through listening to a favorite song or participating in a choir, music has the ability to enrich the lives of those living with dementia.
Overall, it was an afternoon filled with beautiful harmonies, good vibes, and a sense of togetherness. Many thanks to the team at Everton In The Community for their invite to sing, and their support.
