Why Join Our Choir? Part 3
We’re always looking for the positive experiences that our members have while singing with the choir. So this time we asked them about their “Favourites”.
What are your favourite part of rehearsals?
We do harmony in nearly every song we sing at rehearsals. Sometimes this is a simple 2 part arrangement focusing on upper and lower voices. Sometimes we can be singing in up to 4 parts with multiple rhythmical layers. Our musical director Grace Allwood tries to make the learning as innovative and memorable as possible.
We try to have a “Sing Through” week every couple of months. This is where we try to get through as many songs as possible from our repertoire. This includes songs we’ve been working on, songs that we’ve not sung in months, and songs that maybe aren’t everyone’s cup of tea! This helps us build the confidence and fluency of pieces without additional guidance and feedback. Simply singing for the joy of singing.
We try to perform as regularly as we can manage. We never make any one perform if they’re uncomfortable to. Music has always had the power to bring people together, and giving back to the community through music is a truly inspiring way to make a positive impact. Whether it's organizing charity concerts, or performing at local nursing homes, there are so many ways to uplift others through the gift of music.
It is through these acts of giving that we not only bring joy and healing to those in need but also create a sense of unity and connection within our communities. Music has the unique ability to touch hearts, evoke emotions, and bridge gaps, making it the perfect vehicle for giving back and making a lasting difference in the lives of others.
We strive to build the confidence of all our singers. This can be a truly transformative experience for those who have never had the opportunity to really explore their voice.
As we work through our pieces and harmonies our members may feel a sense of accomplishment and self-assurance takes hold. In the act of singing in our choir, individual members learn to embrace their unique voice and express their emotions.
As singers overcome their initial fears and insecurities, they realize the power and beauty of their own voice, reminding individuals that they have something valuable to contribute.
Come and join Wall of Sound and build your community through song.
